Antonio Violano, Florentine sculptor currently living in Barcelona. Tireless researcher, whose roots of Violano’s historical expression lie in Etruscan times. This profound knowledge of the first and most splendid Tuscan civilization has deeply influenced him, as well as his treatment of compact volumes, on which the light shines brightly.
Violano is undoubtedly a Tuscan artist, very complex and with a long career, whose work fluctuates between the figurative style, from which he was born, and the modern abstract style, which he was influenced by during his stay in the United States, and from the vitality and unstructured character of the Born neighborhood of Barcelona, from which he continues to work.
For his work and his long research career, the Accademia delle Arti e del Disegno di Firenze awarded him an honorary academic position in 2002 and in 2019 he was appointed ordinary academician.
Several art critics have commented and written about his work: Vaifro Sabatelli, Geno Pampaloni, Tommaso di Paloscia, Giovanni Michelucci, Mario Luzi, Carlo L. Ragghianti, Mireia Freixa, Daniel Giralt-Miracle, Francesc Miralles, Fernando de Azevedo, Giorgio di Genova.
From 1965 to 2019 he exhibits in the United States, Portugal, Hungary, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.

In 2010 he participated in the 54th Venice Biennale among other personalities from the architectural world such as Benedetta Tagliabue, where he won the first prize for an artistic short film.
In November 2012 he participated in Florence in the Arte e Sport exhibition promoted by the Tuscany Region.
In 2014 participates in the tribute to Michelangelo “Dall’idea al fare artistico. Omaggio a Michelangelo”- Accademia delle Arti e del Disegno of Florence.
In 2017 exclusive exhibition “Antonio Violano” in Rome – at the Istituto Portugués de Sant’ Antonio.
In 2019 he exhibits at the emblematic Hotel Estela -Hotel del Arte in Sitges with works by artists such as Dalí, Chillida and Subirachs.
Since September 2019 part of his collection has been on display at the VITRA showroom in Madrid and since this November also at the Hotel ALMANAC Barcelona.
From September 24 to October 3, 2020, Violano participated with his work “Testa di donna” at the Marbella Design Fair at the stand of interior designer Sara Folch.
Also since 2020 he has a permanent collection of works in the Antwerp Gallery “Love2Arts”.
In 2023 he presents a retrospective of his works in “Dialogues” with the artist-photographer Jordi Bernadó.
